Katowice
Katowice inhabited by 325 thousand people occupies an area of 164.5 sq km and is the 10th largest city in the country, in terms of size. Within its borders there are 9 towns joined together to form a 2 million strong Upper Silesian Conurbation (Silesia). It is a great center of the road and railway communication. Main roads and railway networks pass through the city connecting Poland with Europe in all directions. Trans-European transport corridors crossing Silesian Voivodship ensure national and international connection.Katowice is characterized by well-developed Education System. It is one of the greatest scientific and academic centers in Poland. There are 80 thousand students in the city and approximately 145 thousand people studying in Upper Silesian Conurbation. The territory is inhabited by 50 thousand school-age children and youths.
